| Ever since Lyn and Carolyn met they have challenged each other to take on new projects, to experiment with new materials and to come up with exciting patterns and projects. "Lyn never fails to amaze me" says Carolyn, "she seems to pull baskets out of her head, working her materials into wonderful new combinations, variations and color ways". Her sense of design is based on a mathematical skeem that is the heart of every twill pattern. Lyn studies Native American baskets with the intent of creating something of her own and yet knowing that there is nothing really new, it's all been done before in some form or another, but just waiting there to be re-discovered and rearranged. |

Art has always been a part of Carolyn's life. She has painted and drawn since she was a child, "I was intriged with watercolor early on and I've never lost sight of it's unique and challenging properties". When Carolyn and Lyn met in the late 1980's they started working together almost immediately. Lyn's background as a high school English teacher and her love of writing was a natural mix with Carolyn's talent for illustration. Together they began their first publishing venture, writing, testing and printing a series of booklets on basketmaking. Those first booklets are still sold today and became the building blocks for all the books that followed. Carolyn's watercolors and drawings of baskets can be seen in each of their books and are available as matted prints. |
