IMPORTANT ADDITIONS & CORRECTIONS TO THE TEXT
in "A Basketmaker's Odyssey...Over, Under, Around & Through"
For basketmakers who are working with our book, there are a few additions/corrections
that are important for you to have as you make as you work with the following patterns.
They are detailed below, but if you have any problems please email us and we will help
you through the trouble spot. Print a copy of this page and keep it with your book.

ABENAKI STYLE KNITTING BASKET
Page 11: Base size is Approx. 8 1/2” in diameter (the book says 6")
Page 12: Diagrams 1,2, & 4 show the” donut hole” instead of the 5” solid base.

AMISH TRAY
Page 14: Unfortunately we did not say how to upsett the sides of this basket.Try to round them
up gradually without making a sharp crease at the base of the stake. If this is too difficult,
make a crease. It is not a bad thing. The corners of the tray have to be sharply upsett.
Also a source for brown ash, prepared and ready to weave is Gratiot Lake Basketry,
in Gratiot Lake Michigan. www.gratiotlakebasketry.com

ASHLEY'S BERRY BASKET SCARF
Page 21: The material list calls for two skeins of yarn. That is based each skein having 215 yds.
___________________________________________
CONFETTI TWILL
Page 38: The 26 stakes should be cut 24" long.
________________________________________
ON THE CONTRARY
Page 68: The stakes should be very heavy and the weavers should be of medium weight,
as is the normal practice.

PLAID OF MANY COLORS
Page 77: The graph has an error, row one, the first stroke should be "Over One", not over two as shown. See corrected graph below.

SPIRALING DOUBLE WALL
Page 97: HOW EMBARASSING! I can't believe it, but we left out a sentence.
Just after "See Diagram 7", it should say, "Cut one of the 7 mm stakes off
flush with the base weaving, making the total 55 stakes".
Thus a continuous weave is possible.
